Law enforcement agencies report significant drug and contraband seizures
Law enforcement agencies across Brazil and Portugal have reported major seizures of narcotics and contraband. In Portugal, the National Director of the Judiciary Police (PJ), Carlos Cabreiro, announced that authorities have seized 42 tons of cocaine since January 2026, surpassing the total for the entire year of 2025.
In Brazil, several significant operations were recorded. In Paraná, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized 2.6 tons of marijuana hidden within a shipment of wood shavings in Cascavel. In Maranhão, the Federal Police seized over one ton of cocaine in Chapadinha. Other notable incidents include the seizure of 57 kg of drugs in Sumaré, São Paulo, and the interception of 28 cocaine tablets in Dom Aquino, Mato Grosso.
Authorities also reported seizures of contraband and pharmaceutical products. In Goiás, the PRF seized nearly 9,500 weight-loss medication ampoules and pens, much of which originated from Paraguay. In Minas Gerais, police seized approximately R$ 250,000 worth of smuggled goods, including tirzepatide, electronics, and alcohol.
