Brazil police seize tampered motorcycle and arrest driver for falsified vehicle ID

During Operation Impacto in the José Ometto neighborhood of Araras, São Paulo, the Military Police stopped a gray Honda Biz motorcycle that showed signs of vehicle‑identification tampering. The bike was seized, taken to a police station and will undergo forensic examination; the rider was questioned and released.

In Arapongas, Paraná, a municipal guard team on patrol noticed an irregularity on the Mercosul plate of a silver Ford. The plate had a numeric zero where a letter should appear, achieved by covering the original character with insulating tape. The driver admitted the alteration was meant to evade an electronic toll. He was placed in custody, and the vehicle was handed over to the Civil Police for further investigation. Both incidents are being processed under article 311 of the Brazilian Penal Code, which criminalizes alteration of vehicle identification signals.
