Brazil police shootings kill two suspects in separate incidents
On July 30, 2026, police operations in Brazil resulted in the deaths of two men in different states. In Eunápolis, Bahia, 28‑year‑old Cleiton dos Santos Dadalto, known as “Galego,” was shot by the Rondesp Extremo Sul unit of the 28th Battalion of the Military Police during a recapture attempt. Authorities said he resisted arrest and opened fire. Police seized a firearm, 90 pines of cocaine, a portion of marijuana and a cellphone.
Later the same night on the PR‑445 highway near Cambé, Paraná, 34‑year‑old Maycon Douglas Calazans was killed after police from the Choque unit reported he pointed a Glock pistol at officers during a traffic stop. The officers fired, and the suspect died on site. A search of his Chevrolet Tracker uncovered 10.4 kg of pressed marijuana, a Glock G17, ammunition, a cellphone and the vehicle, all transferred to the Central of Flagrants.
Both incidents were presented by the respective state police as justified responses to armed resistance and involved the seizure of illegal drugs.
