Brazil police arrest three members of tire‑theft ring in Várzea Grande

Three individuals linked to an armed group that stole 113 tires from a tyre company on the Rodovia dos Imigrantes in Várzea Grande were captured by the Polícia Civil’s specialized theft division (Derf‑VG) less than 24 hours after the crime. The suspects include a former employee, a current employee and a logistical supporter who admitted driving the perpetrators to the site for a payment of R$ 500. During the operation, authorities recovered 79 of the stolen tyres, each valued at over R$ 2,000, and seized a Honda Fit used in the robbery. The theft, valued at around R$ 230,000, is part of a broader pattern of crimes attributed to the same organized group, which has previously targeted the same company's facilities. The arrested men were charged with armed criminal association and aggravated robbery and transferred to judicial custody. Further investigations continue to locate additional members of the ring.

The police operation underscores coordinated investigative efforts, using surveillance footage and rapid intelligence work to trace the suspects and retrieve most of the stolen property, aiming to deter similar organized thefts in the region.
