Xuxa Meneghel denounces deepfakes targeting her image

Brazilian presenter Xuxa Meneghel has denounced the use of deepfakes and manipulated media targeting her image. Viral videos on social media falsely claimed she was criticizing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and urging citizens not to vote for him.

Meneghel clarified that the footage being circulated is actually from 2022, when she expressed indignation regarding comments made by former President Jair Bolsonaro concerning Venezuelan adolescents. She reaffirmed her stance against various forms of prejudice and sexual exploitation, stating, “Who believed that I could be talking about our current president does not even know me.”

In a related political development, First Lady Janja Lula da Silva released a political advertisement criticizing the opposition. The video highlights past controversial statements by Jair Bolsonaro and makes accusations against Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, accusing the opposition of using disinformation and decontextualized statements to attack the current administration.
