Brazil poll finds 53% view economy as bad or very bad

A Nexus/BTG poll conducted by telephone with 2,003 Brazilian adults aged 16 or older between July 10‑12, 2026 shows that 53% rate the country’s economy as bad or very bad, while 15% consider it good or very good and 32% describe it as regular. Compared with the previous survey on June 29, the share seeing the economy negatively rose from 51%.

For the next six months, 36% of respondents expect the economy to improve (a little or a lot), 30% anticipate a downturn, and 27% think conditions will stay the same. When asked to compare the current administration with the previous one, 44% say the economy is worse now, against 38% who say it is better.

Security remains the top concern for 29% of voters, followed by corruption (24%), public health (23%), education (18%) and the political class (16%). On personal finances, 30% say their situation is good or very good, while 20% describe it as bad or very bad. The poll’s margin of error is ±2 percentage points with a 95 % confidence level and is registered with Brazil’s Electoral Court (TSE).
