Brazil posts record first-half soybean and chicken meat exports

In June 2026 China imported 12.08 million tonnes of Brazilian soybeans, a 13.7% year‑on‑year increase and contributing to a record 13.55 million tonnes of oilseed arrivals in the month. Over the first half of the year Brazil’s soybean shipments to China generated US$58.3 billion, a 22% rise and accounting for 47% of its overall trade surplus.

Brazil also achieved its highest ever first‑half chicken meat export volumes in June 2026, sending 482,800 tonnes—a 40.6% jump from June 2025—and earning US$985.5 million, up 54.7% year‑on‑year. Total chicken meat exports from January to June reached 2.936 million tonnes, with revenue of US$5.7 billion, a 17% increase. China remained the top market, importing 50,100 tonnes, while exports grew in the EU, South Africa, Mexico, South Korea and the Philippines. The surge occurred despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
