Brazil Potash project cleared by Supreme Federal Court

Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF) has rejected a petition to halt development activities and installation licenses for the Autazes Potash Project. The petition, filed by the Federal Public Defender’s Office (DPU), sought to overturn previous favorable rulings from the Federal Court of Appeals.

STF President Justice Edson Fachin ruled on August 18, 2026, that the requirements for such an exceptional proceeding were not met, noting a lack of demonstrated serious harm to the economy or public order. The decision ensures that existing licenses and development activities for Brazil Potash Corp. and its subsidiary, Potássio do Brasil, remain valid.

Additionally, a court-supervised consultation process involving the Mura people indicated over 90% support for the project. The company stated it remains committed to responsible development and maintaining relationships with local communities.
