Brazil President Lula backs Neymar ahead of World Cup clash with Norway

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva posted a video on social media urging the Brazilian national football team to win its World Cup round‑of‑16 match against Norway on 5 July 2026. In the clip he showed himself placing a sticker in a World Cup album and said, “The team has to win, not just because I’m Brazilian or the president, but because winning is important.”

Lula highlighted that forward Neymar could “make the difference” if he is fully recovered and fit to play, adding that Brazil has the potential to reach the final and win the tournament. The president concluded by wishing the squad good luck and invoking a blessing for the players.
