The remark was made during a meeting at the Palácio do Planalto with Igor Calvet, head of the automobile manufacturers’ association ANFAVEA, where Lula also announced the acquisition of 880 vans to operate mobile dental clinics for remote rural residents.

Lula quipped, “Não faz mais molde de dentadura. Agora, escaneia a boca do cidadão e faz a prótese por uma máquina 3D. Nem a dentadura do Trump é igual a essa.” The comment came as the United States prepared to decide, by July 15, whether to impose a 25 % tariff on certain Brazilian exports under Section 301, a move Brazil’s foreign ministry expects to be reinstated despite earlier assurances.
