STF opens new investigation into Lulinha for influence trafficking
Supreme Court minister André Mendonça authorized the Federal Police to open a second inquiry into Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, on suspicion of influence trafficking. The probe focuses on alleged attempts to use his political connections to benefit private interests in negotiations with the public data agency Dataprev and other federal contracts.
The investigation stems from evidence uncovered during the large‑scale INSS fraud operation. Federal investigators also flagged the technology firm 3Structure IT Ltda, which has signed six federal contracts worth roughly R$ 85.7 million, including a R$ 42 million deal with the Ministry of Development and Assistance Social, Family and Fight Hunger. Lulinha’s lawyer Marco Aurélio Carvalho called the inquiry a “fishing expedition,” and no public evidence has yet linked Lulinha to any crime.
This is the second inquiry authorized by Mendonça within two days, adding political pressure as Brazil heads toward national elections.
