Brazil probes political ties to the 'Dark Horse' film

Supreme Court minister André Mendonça authorized an inquiry into Fábio Luís da Silva, known as “Lulinha,” over a film depicting former president Jair Bolsonaro. The investigation, conducted by the Federal Police, is viewed as a move that could affect the campaign of Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president’s son, who also faces a separate probe related to the same film.

In a separate episode, former tourism minister Gilson Machado, a 2026 federal deputy candidate, made a slip on a podcast when asked whether he had invested in the “Dark Horse” film. He referenced banker Daniel Vorcaro’s R$ 61 million investment, which is also under Federal Police scrutiny for its source and purpose. Both episodes highlight ongoing investigations into financial and political connections surrounding the controversial movie.
