Brazil Highlights Climate‑Friendly Foods and Media Campaign
In Brazil, low‑impact climate foods are promoted as ingredients that require less water and soil, helping reduce pressure on ecosystems. Legumes such as beans and lentils, cassava, dry‑seeded corn and rain‑fed rice, as well as short‑cycle vegetables, are cited for their minimal resource use and benefits to soil health.
Globo launched the "De Olho no Climão" campaign, using humor and well‑known Brazilian cultural symbols—football, carnival, beaches and the traditional bean dish—to illustrate how climate change could affect everyday life. The campaign, produced in partnership with the Instituto Oyá, Climate Basecamp and the University of Exeter, aims to raise public awareness of the climate crisis and encourage engagement with sustainable practices.
Both initiatives underscore a growing effort in Brazil to link climate science with daily choices, whether through dietary recommendations or media outreach, to foster a more resilient and sustainable future.
