Brazil conducts widespread mental health and suicide prevention initiatives

Various Brazilian municipalities and institutions are conducting widespread activities for 'Setembro Amarelo', a campaign dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

In Rio Grande do Norte, a major event gathered specialists and public figures to discuss technical and humanized approaches to suicide attempts. Local governments are also implementing targeted services: Salvador has expanded its 'Projeto Curare' with new psychology interns to increase free psychological care, while Itapecerica (MG) is launching 'Consultório de Rua' to bring mental health services to public spaces.

Educational and community initiatives are also prominent. Schools in Mucuri and Várzea Grande are integrating socio-emotional learning and peace culture into their curricula. In Campo Grande, lectures are being held in community health units to break taboos, and in Mogi das Cruzes, cultural activities like yoga and dance are being used to promote well-being. Other regional actions include mobile dental and mammography units in Rio Grande do Norte and community gatherings in Camaquã and Tamoios to foster dialogue and support networks.
