Public health initiatives expand in Brazil and Portugal

Various municipalities in Brazil and Portugal are implementing diverse public health initiatives focused on prevention, mental health, and vaccination.

In Brazil, several cities are launching campaigns for 'Outubro Rosa' to promote early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancer through mammograms and Pap smears. Mental health awareness is also a major focus, with programs such as 'Setembro Amarelo' providing training for public servants, community workshops in Maricá and Oeiras, and specialized support for municipal employees in Hortolândia.

Vaccination efforts are expanding in both regions. In Portugal, the Order of Pharmacists announced that adults with high-risk pathologies can receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines at community pharmacies. In Brazil, cities like Natal and Salvador are expanding pneumonia (Pneumo 20) vaccination access for seniors aged 85 and older.

Additionally, local governments are investing in healthcare infrastructure, such as Teixeira de Freitas, which received nearly R$ 2 million in new medical equipment for municipal hospitals to improve surgical and neonatal care.
