Brazil prosecutors probe rural credit irregularities and anesthesiology service breach

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) has referred a case involving a Mato Grosso rural producer to the State Public Prosecutor after identifying possible misuse of a BNDES‑funded loan routed through the cooperative bank Sicredi. The investigation focuses on whether the loan funds were applied to the intended agricultural purpose, with the MPF concluding that the matter falls under state jurisdiction.

Separately, the State Public Prosecutor of Pará (MPPA) has sought enforcement of a court‑ordered fine against the municipality of Monte Alegre for failing to provide continuous anesthesiology services at the municipal hospital as required by a 2023 judgment. The MPPA also demands that a vacancy for an anesthesiologist be included in the next public tender, noting the municipality’s current staffing and scheduling fall short of the court’s mandate.
