Brazil PT-DF leader accuses Governor Celina Leão of prejudice for saying PT only wins in poor states
Guilherme Sigmaringa, president of the Workers' Party in the Federal District (PT-DF), charged Governor Celina Leão of the PP with fostering prejudice after she claimed the PT only wins elections in “poor states” with low education levels. Sigmaringa said the remarks stigmatize millions of Brazilian voters and disrespect the 2022 presidential election outcome.
The PT-DF statement highlighted the party’s governance in diverse regions, citing Ceará’s top performance in national education indicators as evidence that the PT’s policies succeed beyond economically disadvantaged areas. The party demanded that political debate focus on respect for democracy and solutions for the Federal District’s public‑health challenges.
