Brazil public procurement reaches R$ 1 trillion, driving AI demand
Brazil's public procurement market reached R$ 1 trillion in ratified values through the National Public Procurement Portal (PNCP) in 2025, involving over 1 million operations. According to the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), micro and small enterprises participated in 481,700 purchases, totaling R$ 272.6 billion, while individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs) accounted for 62,220 operations worth R$ 12.08 billion.
The scale of these transactions is driving demand for predictive analytics technologies. The Brazilian platform Olhary is testing its Predictor module, which uses data such as annual procurement plans and budgetary information to identify patterns and signal future demand. This aligns with global trends, as Grand View Research projects the predictive analytics market to grow from US$ 18.9 billion in 2024 to US$ 82.3 billion by 2030.
Additionally, the Brazilian government has regulated the use of digital e-commerce platforms for standardized public procurement. This measure establishes the Express Procurement System (Sicx) to streamline contracting and reduce bureaucracy. The initiative includes a permanent digital accreditation for suppliers, integrated with the Unified Registration Record (RCU), which is slated for launch in late 2026.
