The State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) has released three notices for its 2027 Medical Residency program, offering a total of 223 vacancies. The positions are divided into three categories: 114 vacancies for direct access (Edital 15), 60 for programs requiring prerequisites (Edital 16), and 49 for specific areas of activity and additional years (Edital 17).

Selection will be conducted through a single-stage examination with no curriculum analysis. Applications open on September 2, 2026, and close on October 1, 2026, with a registration fee of R$ 380.00. The exam is scheduled for November 1, 2026, at the UERJ Maracanã Campus in Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally, a unified selection process for medical residency programs has been announced by the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), the Medical Association of Rio Grande do Sul (AMRIGS), the Catarinense Medical Association (ACM), and the Medical Association of Mato Grosso do Sul (AMMS). Coordinated by Fundatec, this process includes direct access, prerequisites, and specialization courses. Registration for this unified selection is set to run from September 9 to October 19, 2026, with exams tentatively scheduled for November 22, 2026.
