Brazil's Labour Minister Luiz Marinho launches Casa do Trabalhador and unveils unemployment insurance reforms

Minister Luiz Marinho inaugurated the Casa do Trabalhador in Palmas, Tocantins on 23 June, the 14th integrated employment centre in Brazil, consolidating job‑matching, entrepreneurship support and worker services.

On 24 June he presented the monthly RAIS statistics in Brasília, detailing formal employment trends, wages and sectoral breakdowns across the country.

The Ministry also announced revised 2026 unemployment‑insurance rules, adjusting benefits to a minimum of R$ 1,621 and a maximum of R$ 2,518.65 and tightening eligibility checks.

Marinho affirmed that ending the 6x1 work schedule is a permanent shift toward a 40‑hour week, noting economic impacts and the stalled Senate debate over the related constitutional amendment.
