Brazil Pushes Forward with Regional Hospital Projects in Barra do Garças and Princesa Isabel

Pre‑candidate for state deputy Moacir Couto marked the selection of a site for the Regional Hospital of Araguaia in Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso. The municipal government chose land near the existing urgent care unit after a public hearing, a favorable technical opinion from the State Health Secretariat and a proclamation by Governor Otaviano Pivetta. Couto said, “Já vencemos importantes fases dessa caminhada…”, and noted that the state governor is expected to return in September to launch the tender for construction if the schedule holds.

In Paraíba, pre‑candidate for governor Cícero Lucena pledged to convert the municipal Hospital Regional Deputado José Pereira Lima in Princesa Isabel into a state‑run facility. Lucena, alongside vice‑candidate Diogo Cunha Lima, was received by local leaders, including former mayor Dr. Sidney, who remarked, “Meu pedido para Cícero foi transformar o hospital…”. Lucena emphasized decentralising medium‑ and high‑complexity health services to reduce travel distances for residents across the state.
