Brazil records record June exports and lifts 2026 trade‑surplus forecast to $90 billion

In June 2026 Brazil exported a record $36.277 billion, the highest monthly total in the series, generating a trade surplus of $9.758 billion. The Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) raised its 2026 trade‑surplus projection to $90 billion, which would be the second‑largest surplus in the country’s history.

Exports grew 24.9 % year‑on‑year, led by the extractive sector – crude oil shipments rose 58.4 % and iron‑ore exports increased 17.7 %. Agribusiness remained strong, with beef exports up 39.2 % in value and poultry up 62.4 %. Exports to the United States rose 3.7 % in June, the first increase since the tariff hikes imposed under the previous U.S. administration.

Overall trade activity in June reached $62.8 billion, with imports expanding 14.4 % year‑on‑year, driven mainly by consumer goods, fuels and capital equipment.
