Brazil readies soccer squad for World Cup round of 16 and sitting‑volleyball teams for July world championships

The Brazil men’s soccer team reconvened in the United States for the final days of preparation before its round‑of‑16 match against Norway at the World Cup on July 5 in New Jersey. Training has continued at the hotel and training centre used since the tournament’s start, while forward Lucas Paquetá remains sidelined with a left‑thigh injury, and Barcelona striker Raphinha is expected to be fit but will start on the bench.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s men’s and women’s sitting‑volleyball squads gathered at the Paralympic Training Centre in São Paulo from June 29 to July 6 for their final preparation ahead of the World Championship in July 10‑17. The rosters feature veteran athletes such as Ádria Silva, Alex Witkovski, Camila Castro and Daniel Yoshizawa. The women’s team entered the 2022 Sarajevo World Championship as champions, while the men’s team earned bronze, and both aim to secure qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
