Brazil records 487,415 DDoS attacks in first half of 2026

Brazil experienced 487,415 distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks between January and June 2026, representing a 3.56% increase compared to the second half of 2025. According to a threat intelligence report from NETSCOUT, these incidents had an average duration of approximately 59 minutes.

In Brazil, wireless telecommunications companies were significant targets, accounting for 141,400 attacks. Other major sectors affected include web hosting and computing with 50,499 attacks, and wired telecommunications with 27,967 attacks.

Globally, NETSCOUT identified over 9.1 million DDoS attacks. The report highlights a 1,286% increase in high-capacity attacks exceeding 1 terabit per second (Tbps) or 1 billion packets per second (Gpps). Experts note that attackers are increasingly utilizing residential proxies—infecting common devices like mobile phones and routers—and short-duration, high-traffic offensives, making traditional network controls less effective.
