Brazil releases September‑October PIS/Pasep salary bonus, 5.4 billion paid to 4.3 million workers

On July 15 2026 the Brazilian federal government paid the fourth installment of the 2026 salary bonus (abono salarial) for workers born in September and October. The payment, amounting to about R$ 5.4 billion, reaches 4,339,996 beneficiaries.

Three‑million‑plus private‑sector workers enrolled in the Programa de Integração Social (PIS) receive the funds through Caixa Econômica Federal, either as a credit to a checking or savings account or via the digital Poupança Social accessed through the Caixa Tem app. Approximately 500,000 public‑sector employees enrolled in the Programa de Formação do Patrimônio do Servidor Público (Pasep) are paid by Banco do Brasil, with options for direct account credit, TED/Pix transfer, or in‑person withdrawal.

Eligibility requires at least five years of registration in PIS/Pasep, formal employment for a minimum of 30 days in 2024, and an average monthly salary of up to R$ 2,766 in the base year. The benefit amount varies from R$ 136 to R$ 1,621, proportional to the number of months worked. Recipients can verify payment details through the Digital Work Card app, the Gov.br portal, the 158 hotline, or Caixa Tem and related social benefit apps. The program is funded by the Fundo de Amparo ao Trabalhador (FAT) and is expected to benefit about 22.2 million workers throughout 2026.
