Brazil’s Gás do Povo program releases July 10 recarga for 206 000 low‑income families

On Friday, 10 July 2026, Caixa Econômica Federal opened a new round of the Gás do Povo programme, providing free 13‑kg LPG refills to families that meet eligibility criteria. The release covers roughly 206 000 families nationwide, part of a broader schedule that will run monthly until December 2026.

To qualify, households must have per‑capita income of no more than half a minimum wage, be enrolled in the Cadastro Único with updates in the past 24 months, have a regular CPF and consist of at least two members. Priority is given to families receiving Bolsa Família. The number of annual refills varies with family size – up to three bottles for two‑person families, up to four for three members, and up to six for four or more.

Beneficiaries can redeem vouchers at accredited retailers using a Bolsa Família chip card, a Caixa debit card, or by presenting the CPF with a validation code sent to their phone. Vouchers for two‑ or three‑person families are valid for three months; for larger families, two months. Eligibility and retailer locations can be checked via the “Meu Social – Gás do Povo” app, the programme portal, or the 121 call centre. The government estimates the overall scheme will distribute about 65 million bottles a year, with an allocated budget of R$ 1.5 billion.
