Brazil reports progress in Quilombola school education institutionalization
The 2026 Equity Diagnosis indicates progress in the institutionalization of Quilombola school education (EEQ) across all Brazilian regions compared to 2024. In the Central-West region, the institutionalization index rose from 23 to 28 points.
This growth reflects the strengthening of the National Policy for Equity, Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations, and Quilombola School Education (Pneerq). The institutionalization of these policies aims to ensure that educational norms are maintained across different government administrations.
General indices for state networks increased from 53 to 64 points, while municipal networks rose from 33 to 38 points. The EEQ modality requires specific pedagogy that respects the ethnic-cultural specificity of each community, including specialized teacher training and the recognition of Black ancestry and cultural diversity.
