Brazil economy shows growth in tourism, port activity, and digital payments
Brazil is experiencing significant economic milestones across several sectors. In the tourism industry, international visitor spending reached a record US$ 8.38 billion (R$ 45.6 billion) between January and September 2026, a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Domestic tourism also saw record revenues, with operators generating R$ 23.9 billion in 2025.
The maritime and logistics sectors are seeing high volumes. The Port of Paranaguá has become a national leader in vehicle movement, handling 131.4 thousand units from January to September 2026. Additionally, the port accounted for 47% of Brazil's total frozen chicken exports during the same period, managing 1.87 million tons. However, experts warn of potential logistics saturation in major terminals like Santos and Paranaguá by 2030.
In the financial sector, the Pix instant payment system has reached a milestone of over 1 billion registered keys. In the first half of 2026, Pix accounted for 55.2% of all transactions in Brazil, totaling nearly 44 billion operations, a 19.4% increase from the previous year.
