Cuiabá and São Vicente police investigate fatal high-speed vehicle collisions

Authorities in São Vicente, São Paulo, are seeking the temporary arrest of a 31-year-old man suspected of killing a 45-year-old cyclist. The incident occurred in the Itararé neighborhood when a luxury car struck the victim in a cycle lane, throwing him against a building. The driver fled the scene without providing aid, leaving the vehicle behind with alcohol containers inside. A passenger in the vehicle claimed they only realized a fatality had occurred after seeing social media reports.

In a separate incident in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, 22-year-old Hercílio Junio Freitas Cordeiro remains in custody following a high-speed collision that killed a 23-year-old delivery driver, Paulo Messias Simão Costa. Investigations indicate Cordeiro was driving a BMW at 177 km/h, was under the influence of alcohol, and did not possess a driver's license. The suspect reportedly attempted to flee through a window when police arrived at his residence.
