Brazil reports two filial homicide cases: father killed in Bahia, mother killed in Minas Gerais

In Ilhéus, Bahia, police arrested Joabson Rocha dos Santos after he stabbed his father, Nerival Domingos dos Santos, to death, then fled with the victim's car, cellphone and bank card. He was located near a mechanic shop in Itororó and taken into custody.

In Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, João Victor Silveira Vilaça was convicted of murdering his mother, Débora Silveira Vilaça, by stabbing her during a dispute over a car. The court sentenced him to 48 years and one month in prison, ordering a closed‑regime term. He had fled the scene with the victim's belongings before being apprehended by police the following day.
