Brazil reports two separate cases of child sexual abuse
Two separate incidents of sexual violence against children have been reported in Brazil.
In Cocal do Sul, Santa Catarina, a 16-year-old adolescent admitted to sexually abusing a 3-year-old boy while the child was under his care. The abuse was discovered after a family member noticed physical injuries during a clothing change. Medical examinations at a local hospital confirmed signs of violence, including redness and blood. The adolescent was referred to the Civil Police and faces charges analogous to the crime of rape of a vulnerable person.
In Apucarana, Paraná, an 83-year-old man was preventively arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his granddaughter. The abuse was revealed by the child, who exhibited signs of anxiety and abdominal pain. Investigations by the Civil Police indicated that the suspect used moments when they were watching television to commit inappropriate acts. The victim underwent specialized listening procedures to confirm the repeated nature of the incidents.
