Brazil reports two separate homicides in Rio de Janeiro and Pará
A 47‑year‑old man, André Manoel Fraga, was shot dead inside his home in Cosmos, Rio de Janeiro's western zone on 5 May. Police say the shooter was his stepson, Alexandre Muniz dos Santos Noronha, who was later arrested in São Paulo after a joint operation by the Rio and São Paulo civil police.
On 8 May, 41‑year‑old Paulo Noriano Santos Júnior was found dead from gunshot wounds in the rural village of Vila Três Voltas, near Parauapebas in the state of Pará. Local authorities suspect a man known only as “França” and are investigating a possible link to a shotgun‑trade negotiation. The case is being handled by the regional homicide division.
