Brazil reports violent disputes in Goiânia and Rio Branco
Two separate violent incidents involving disputes over services have been reported in Brazil.
In Goiânia, an armed customer threatened a butcher at a supermarket in Vila Mutirão after complaining about the thickness of meat cuts. During the altercation, the suspect reportedly threw meat at the employee and struck a firearm against the butcher's marble counter, causing damage. The suspect threatened to wait for the employee to finish his shift to confront him outside, prompting the store owner to escort the worker to safety. The Civil Police are investigating the case.
In Rio Branco, a mobile phone technician, Stephen Chukwuelka Okoli, was stabbed during a dispute over repair costs at the Mercado Municipal do Bosque. The suspect, Raiff Alves da Silva Junior, allegedly made xenophobic remarks regarding the victim's Nigerian nationality before attacking him with a knife. Following the incident, police located the suspect hiding in a church. The victim was treated at a local emergency room.
