Brazil retail prepares for Black Friday amid AI shifts and price monitoring

As Black Friday approaches on November 27, the Brazilian retail landscape is shifting due to new consumer behaviors and increased regulatory scrutiny. Nuvemshop reported that its platform generated R$ 814 million in sales during the November 2025 period, marking a 35% increase from the previous year and demonstrating the growing importance of small and medium-sized enterprises in the e-commerce sector.

To combat deceptive pricing, consumer protection agencies such as Procon-SP and Procon-Suzano have initiated early monitoring. These agencies track price fluctuations months in advance to identify artificial increases followed by false discounts. Retailers are being advised to ensure they can prove the legitimacy of their promotions if questioned.

Simultaneously, the digital shopping journey is becoming more fragmented. Research from Conversion indicates that 54.6% of Brazilians intended to use artificial intelligence to compare prices in 2025. This shift means brands must now compete for visibility within AI-generated responses, such as those from ChatGPT or Claude, in addition to traditional search engines and social media.
