Brazil Children's Day holiday drives travel and retail activity

The upcoming Children's Day holiday in Brazil is driving significant activity across the travel and retail sectors. In São Paulo, bus ticket searches for the period have increased by 54% compared to 2025, with travelers seeking to take advantage of a favorable holiday calendar.

Retail projections show mixed sentiment across different regions. In Minas Gerais, Fecomércio MG reports that the holiday impacts 78.2% of retailers, with 29.1% expecting sales growth and 21.8% anticipating a decline due to consumer debt and economic conditions. In Rio de Janeiro, the IFec RJ predicts the holiday will generate R$ 432 million, an 11.4% decrease from the previous year, noting a shift toward online shopping.

In Bento Gonçalves, the CDL-BG reports that 67% of retailers expect performance to meet or exceed 2025 levels. Meanwhile, social initiatives are also active, such as inclusive outings for children with disabilities in São Gonçalo and recreational activities for youth in social care programs in Curitiba.
