Brazil rolls out billions in transmission upgrades and coastal logistics projects

AXIA Energia announced a R$ 3.53 billion plan to expand and modernise 44 high‑voltage transmission projects across the southern states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul through 2029. The programme includes a R$ 2.1 billion partnership with Itaipu to upgrade the bipole 1 HVDC line at the Foz do Iguaçu sub‑station and R$ 834 million for reinforcement works at key substations in Curitiba, Londrina, Ivaiporã and Foz do Iguaçu. Director Marcelo Calvet said the investments will “strengthen the operational security of the National Interconnected System and improve supply reliability for millions of people.”

Separately, the southern coast of Espírito Santo is projected to receive roughly R$ 53 billion in investments by 2029, targeting the development of a new logistics and industrial hub known as Parklog Sul Capixaba. The programme involves major players such as Petrobras, Samarco, Prio, Shell, Ecovias and 3E Energy, with the Porto Central project alone slated for more than R$ 2 billion. Sub‑secretary Celso Guerra highlighted that the hub will boost cargo handling, attract renewable‑energy projects and support Brazil’s energy transition.
