Brazil rolls out climate‑adaptation mentorships for vulnerable communities

The Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro has opened registrations for the second edition of its Lab de Ideias, a free ten‑week mentorship program that will support 25 residents from disadvantaged territories in the city. The initiative, backed by Itaú and technical partner CodeFicar, focuses on “ideas for the impacts of heat” and aims to help participants develop prototypes that address climate‑related challenges such as urban heat islands and ecological violence. Sessions run on Saturdays from 18 July to 19 September 2026, combining workshops, psychopedagogical support and individualized project guidance.

Separately, Brazil’s Ministry of Cities announced that, until 30 June, municipalities can apply for the “Urgência Climática – Implementando Soluções em Territórios Urbanos Vulneráveis” virtual course. Ten municipal teams will be selected to receive free training from 3 August to 30 September 2026 on climate‑adaptation planning, risk management and nature‑based solutions. Eligible municipalities must have a combined population of at least 100,000 and must not have participated in prior editions of the program.
