Brazil Central Bank reports R$ 5.1 billion in unclaimed funds
The Central Bank of Brazil has reported that over R$ 5.1 billion remains unclaimed in financial institutions through the Sistema Valores a Receber (SVR). Of this amount, approximately R$ 3.76 billion belongs to 22.66 million individuals, while R$ 1.35 billion is tied to roughly 2 million legal entities.
Since the system's inception, more than R$ 20.93 billion in forgotten funds have been identified, with R$ 15.81 billion already returned to beneficiaries. Recent monthly withdrawal trends show R$ 340 million was redeemed in June, following R$ 427 million in May and R$ 483 million in April.
The majority of available funds are small amounts; approximately 70% of beneficiaries have up to R$ 10 available. About 18.73% have between R$ 10.01 and R$ 100, while roughly 11% of beneficiaries hold amounts exceeding R$ 100.
Some unclaimed resources are being directed toward the Desenrola 2.0 debt renegotiation program to help fund the Guarantee Fund for Operations (FGO). Citizens can consult their status for free via the official SVR website using a CPF or CNPJ, though full redemption requires a Gov.br account at the silver or gold level.
