Brazil seafood industry expands through national campaigns and regional trade
The Brazilian fish and seafood industry is seeing increased activity through both national promotional campaigns and expanded regional trade routes. In Rolante, the municipality is participating in the 23rd Fish Week, an initiative by the Ministry of Fishing and Aquaculture running from September 1 to 15. The campaign aims to stimulate national consumption and connect consumers with various segments of the production chain, including fishermen, aquaculturists, and processors. Local authorities are emphasizing food safety, advising consumers to verify municipal, state, or federal inspection seals and proper storage conditions.
On a commercial scale, the company Forte do Pescado, based in Belém, Pará, has established a significant logistics bridge between the North and South of Brazil. The company processes approximately seven tons of river and marine products daily, supplying supermarkets and restaurants in Pará, Amapá, and Maranhão, while also maintaining a robust supply route to Santa Catarina and the southern region. The operation utilizes a fleet of its own trucks to manage the unloading, freezing, and packaging of regional species such as piramutaba, dourada, and pescada amarela.
