Brazil sees cooler Rio temperatures and weaker winds in the northeast

A polar air mass is keeping temperatures low across Rio de Janeiro and surrounding areas, with daytime highs expected to stay around 23 °C through Friday before a warmer spell arrives later in the week. The cold front brings clear skies, minimal rain and a noticeable chill in the mornings, especially in higher‑altitude locations.

In Rio Grande do Norte, the seasonal wind period has begun, but forecasters expect gusts to be milder than in previous years. The El Niño phenomenon is projected to suppress wind intensity, reduce July rainfall and raise temperatures along the coast in the coming months. Residents are advised to stay hydrated as the weaker winds may contribute to higher heat perception later in the season.
