Brazil sees increased female political and military representation
Brazil is experiencing shifts in female representation across political and military sectors. In the recent electoral cycle, three women were elected as governors, marking a significant increase compared to previous years when female governorships were much more limited.
While female representation has grown in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the country still faces challenges in achieving full gender parity in political offices.
In the military sector, the Ministry of Defense is implementing regulations to reserve vacancies in military competitions and selection processes. This move aims to support the increasing presence of women in strategic roles within the Armed Forces, following the leadership of figures such as Secretary-General Cinara Fredo and pioneering officers like Lieutenant Colonel Joyce de Souza Conceição.
