Brazil sees surge in foreign investment and infrastructure spending

Brazil has emerged as a major destination for global capital, ranking as the second largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of 2025. According to OECD data, the country received US$ 38 billion in FDI during that period, representing a 48% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by greenfield projects in renewable energy and industrial production.

In the industrial sector, the Franco-German manufacturer Setral has entered an exclusive partnership with the Brazilian distributor Lubvap to introduce its specialty fine chemistry and lubrication technology to the Brazilian market. This move reflects a trend of specialized European manufacturers utilizing local partnerships to navigate Brazilian regulations and logistics.

Simultaneously, Brazil's infrastructure sector is seeing significant activity. In 2025, infrastructure investments reached 280 billion reais, with projections for 2026 rising to 300 billion reais. The Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Base Industries (ABDIB) suggests that annual investment needs may reach 500 billion reais to close existing gaps. Major ongoing projects include the modernization of Congonhas Airport by Aena Brasil, the extension of the Yellow Line 4 metro in São Paulo, and the Serra das Araras highway expansion.
