Brazil sees surge in job‑hopping among young workers

A recent study by consultancy Michael Page and a survey from Brazil's Ministry of Labor and Employment reveal a sharp increase in job‑hopping. About 44 % of Brazilian workers are actively seeking new opportunities and 39 % are considering leaving their current jobs. Turnover is especially high among younger workers: 38.2 % of those aged 18‑24 and more than half of those aged 14‑17 change jobs within a year.

The main drivers are low salaries, long working hours and limited prospects for professional development. Michael Page Brazil executive Lucas Oggiam notes that while voluntary moves are common, some turnover is also linked to broader economic conditions. Operational and entry‑level positions show the greatest mobility, whereas senior C‑level executives tend to stay longer with their employers.
