Brazil sees two fatal shootings in Maranhão and Paraíba
In the early hours of Monday in Bacabeira, Maranhão, shop owner Oscar Monteiro Rosa was assaulted by four armed men attempting a robbery. Rosa returned fire, killing one assailant and wounding the others; he later died from a neck wound. Police arrested the three surviving attackers, linking them to a local criminal group.
Later that night in João Pessoa, Paraíba, gunmen opened fire inside a bar in Mangabeira. A patron was shot in the head and died on the scene, while another man suffered a leg wound and remains hospitalized in stable condition. The Paraíba Civil Police are investigating the motive and perpetrators.
