Brazil Senate president Davi Alcolumbre denies $30 million payment from ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro

Senate president Davi Alcolumbre (União‑AP) rejected claims that he received about US$30 million (≈ R$155 million) from former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the now‑defunct Banco Master. In an official note he said the allegations published by Veja were “absolutely false” and announced civil and criminal actions against those responsible. The same denial was echoed by the president of the National Congress, who also said he never received any amount, domestically or abroad.

Federal Police rejected a second plea‑bargain request from Vorcaro, confirming ongoing investigations into alleged financial fraud surrounding the Banco Master case. Meanwhile, in the political fallout, pre‑presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro said his only link to Vorcaro was financing the “Dark Horse” biopic of his father and claimed he has a clean record. His brother Eduardo Bolsonaro called for the PL to sever ties with the Novo party after its leader Romeu Zema criticized Flávio’s relationship with Vorcaro.
