Brazil Senate reviews bill to ban energy drink sales to minors

The Brazilian Senate has begun analyzing a bill (PL 5. 210/2026) proposed by Senator Doutora Eudócia (PSDB-AL) that aims to restrict access to energy drinks for minors under the age of 18.

The proposal seeks to prohibit the sale, offering, and supply of these products to children and adolescents. Additionally, the text mandates that product labels include warnings regarding the potential health effects of consumption. The senator emphasized that preventing consumption during youth can contribute to healthier adulthood, noting concerns that combining energy drinks with alcohol can cause changes in heart rate and blood pressure.

If approved, further legislative or regulatory discussions will be required to define enforcement mechanisms and penalties for establishments that violate these rules.
