August 2026 will have no national holidays in Brazil, leaving the month without a federal day off. The next nationwide holiday is Independence Day on 7 September.

Despite the absence of a national holiday, several states and municipalities observe local holidays. Paraíba celebrates its foundation on 5 August, Pará marks its adhesion to Brazil’s independence on 15 August, and Tocantins observes the Dia do Senhor do Bonfim on the same day. Municipalities such as Fortaleza (15 August) and Belo Horizonte also grant a local holiday.

Under the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), employers must pay July’s salary by the fifth business day of the following month. Because 1 August 2026 falls on a Saturday, which the CLT counts as a business day, the deadline is Thursday, 6 August. Late payment triggers monetary correction, interest, and possible penalties, including the right to indirect termination of the employment contract.
