Luiza Lindner's film *Irritante Prodígio* wins Troféu Vila Rica at CineOP

The feature documentary *Irritante Prodígio*, directed by Luiza Lindner, was awarded the Troféu Vila Rica in the competitive “Arquivos em Questão” section of the 21st CineOP – Mostra de Cinema de Ouro Preto. The prize was announced on 30 June in Praça Tiradentes during the festival’s closing ceremony. The jury – documentarist Anita Leandro, researcher Gabriela Lima Gomes and scholar João Luiz Vieira – highlighted the film’s integration of personal archives, performance and memory, noting that “the film enriches itself by bringing the body itself as an archive.” The work, a co‑production of Santa Catarina and São Paulo, revisits Lindner’s childhood marked by prolonged hospital and psychiatric stays, weaving personal footage, historic images and reenactments to explore autobiographical representation. In accepting the award, Lindner expressed that the recognition will help the film reach wider audiences and further her emerging career in Brazilian cinema. The CineOP festival, Brazil’s longest‑running event dedicated to cinema as heritage, annually gathers filmmakers, researchers and the public to discuss preservation, history and audiovisual education.
