Brazil soybean producers prepare for planting as sanitary voids end

Soybean producers in the Brazilian states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso are preparing for the 2026/2027 planting season following the conclusion of the mandatory sanitary void. In Rondônia, the sanitary void ends on September 10, a period during which no live soybean plants are permitted in the field to reduce the presence of the fungus causing Asian soybean rust.

In Mato Grosso, the sanitary void concludes on September 6, allowing planting to begin on September 7. However, agricultural experts advise caution due to weather uncertainties. While the National Institute of Meteorology predicts above-average rainfall in some regions, there is a high probability of a strong El Niño, which could lead to below-normal rainfall in other parts of the state. Experts from Imea recommend that producers carefully evaluate soil moisture and rainfall regularity before planting to avoid the risk of needing to replant crops.
