Brazil strengthens security with Santos equipment grant and new national intelligence center

The municipality of Santos will receive more than R$1.1 million in non‑lethal equipment for its municipal guard, including tasers, pepper spray and related accessories, under the federal "Município Mais Seguro" programme. The donation aims to enhance patrol capabilities, safety training and community policing in the city.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has created the National Penal Intelligence Center (CNIP), a permanent hub that will integrate intelligence from state and federal prison police across Brazil. The center will coordinate national intelligence operations, share data, and support anti‑organized‑crime actions as part of the Brazil Against Organized Crime programme, with an investment of roughly R$324 million in technology and training.
